Raw Paddy Drying Solutions
Proper drying is the most critical post-harvest operation in rice processing. Freshly harvested paddy typically carries moisture levels of 18% or higher, which makes it unsafe for storage and unsuitable for milling. If paddy is stored or milled at high moisture, it leads to rapid grain deterioration, fungal growth, increased breakage during milling, and significant loss of head rice recovery. Bringing paddy moisture down to the ideal 12–14% range before storage and 12% before milling is therefore essential to protecting both grain quality and mill profitability.
At Grain Master, we supply and install two types of paddy drying systems to suit different operational needs — batch-type dryers and continuous-flow dryers. Batch-type dryers process a fixed quantity of paddy per cycle, making them ideal for smaller operations or situations where grain arrives intermittently. Continuous-flow dryers are designed for high-capacity mills where large volumes of paddy need to be dried without interruption, feeding directly into the milling process. Both systems use hot air circulation through grain columns to achieve fast, uniform moisture reduction without causing internal grain cracking or quality loss.
Our drying systems are fitted with digital temperature controllers, hot air blowers, and PLC-based monitoring systems that maintain precise drying temperatures throughout the process. The dryers can be operated using rice husk, firewood, or biomass as fuel — making them energy-efficient and cost-effective — or configured to run on boiler steam where available. With minimal civil work requirements, easy operator access, and low maintenance needs, our paddy drying solutions integrate seamlessly into both new mill setups and existing processing facilities.
